1.) Learning Process
2.) History/background including interviews with credible mentors.
3.) Final Product, what we gained and where we will take it.

Blog 4/17
My field experience over the weekend involved a meeting with our new found mentor, as well as our first experience on trails, as we have taken back up our original idea that was long boarding. I feel more confident than ever that we will be able to give a conclusive talk about our experience, and I an thoroughly looking forward to continuing this project.
I was surprised about what stuck out to me the most when riding the trails throughout cedar rapids and the surrounding areas, and that was me taking in my surroundings to a degree that I never had, and noticing things about my city that have never been on my mind before. I think this is going to turn into a way for me to experience parts of my city I have never noticed before. I think this along with the process behind choosing and building a board will come together for a successful end product.

In reference to my 20- time project, my group has decided to take a different route than originally planned, and attempt to take up cooking. Cooking is a skill that will last us a lifetime, and i was debating adding a twist to it as well, such as making the recipes we learn be ones strictly from the civil war era or the Great Depression Era, so not only to we broaden our cooking abilities, but we also get a literal taste of what nutrition and food was like from said time period. It would broaden our horizons to a degree that would not be reachable by learning how to ride a long board down a hill.
Moving forward from this point, I think the next step for our project is to begin research and find recipes that would fit whatever qualifications we set, and begin learning how to cook said recipes.

For my 20 time project, I have recently considered changing to a different topic of study. Long boarding, as fun and interesting as it sounds, may not broaden my horizons like I originally thought it would. I want something that is going to challenge me mentally more than anything, as I want to take away from this project a new skill or idea. I have been thinking about possible ideas if I choose to abandon the idea, and one of those is to collaborate with a good friend, Cass Zimmerman with writing and producing a few songs for the first time.
If I do choose to take up this new project, I hope to make it something special, or at least do my best and hope to come up with a great piece of work. If it is something i enjoy a lot, it could be a hobby I take up and use regularly.

BLOG #3: Progress
Progressing in my journey to learn the ins and outs of longboarding has proven to be a little difficult, being that longboarding is a weather permitting sport. That being said, however I think I am progressing slowly but surely. In class, I have been able to watch youtube tutorials for beginners, as well as research the pros and cons for each different style of longboard. I have concluded that, to start off, I should probably be riding a wider, lower board for all the purposes i will use it for to begin with.
I also want to try out a multitude of different boards, however I don't have the money to buy multiple different boards. My plan of action for this problem is to borrow different types of boards from different friends, as well as visit play it again sports and other second hand sport shops to try and find a variety of different boards.
My in class work will consist of tutorials and videos, as well as eventually editing and making the video i intend ti take documenting my experience int a final product.

So far in working on my 20 time project, I believe my project will not only lead to me learning about something I have never done before, but I also am hoping to become very good at long boarding and hopefully, it's something I could get into and enjoy for the rest of my life.
I am however, worried about my final product and my presentation, simply because I am not necessarily learning a lot that I can share with others, more so as I am learning how to do something through experience and practice and recording my experience. I think it will be very cool for me to learn something I have never even dabbled in before and I look forward to hopefully finding something I will enjoy a lot moving forward.
Long boarding has been a nation wide trend and something I have never really shown interest into anything like long boarding. I hope that at the end of this project, I will have mastered a skill I will continue to use in the near future and collegiate years ahead.

Learning how to long board provides quite the challenge when it comes to research, because it is hard to come up with research questions that truly make you think more about the act of long boarding.
- What are the differences in abilities between different long boards?
- Where did long boarding aspire from?
- How relevant is long boarding in different regions? Is it nation wide?
- What did longboarding stem from?
- How far can I take it?/how good good can one get at longboarding
